Cleaning and maintaining a Gingival Mask.
The cleaner a mask is kept, the longer it will last. Please clean twice a day if the mask is worn all day. Clean after wearing if worn for social situations only, and before storing.
Never sleep with a mask in place. One word: choking!
Never use toothpaste or a toothbrush on a mask. Your mask may be coated with a protective laquer and this will remove the laquer and scratch the silicone.
Never soak in or use any commercial denture cleaner, effervescent, or paste. These products can 'bleach' and or harden the mask.
Clean gently with mild soap like Ivory or Soft Soap. Rub in your hands with your fingers and soap like a soft contact lens. Rinse well. Be careful not to scratch the mask with your nails. Do not use an anti-bacterial type soap as the chemicals can harm the mask. Although when not in use, the mask can be stored in distilled water, we recommend soft contact lens solution. This is the only solution that we have found that will not harm the mask and as an added plus will disinfect silicone safely. Contact lens solution is made for eyes not mouths, so you must thoroughly rinse the mask before inserting.
